Traffic stop nets drug arrest

CUMBERLAND — A 17-year-old Bedford, Pa., boy was arrested on a drug charge following a traffic stop on Interstate 68 at 12:04 p.m. Friday, according to Cumberland Police.

After being stopped for a seat belt violation, the boy told the officer that he had a bag of marijuana in the ashtray, according to police reports. The juvenile was charged with possession of marijuana and released pending further action by the Department of Juvenile Services.

One injured in ATV accident

OLDTOWN — One person was flown to Cumberland Memorial Hospital by Trooper 5 helicopter following an all-terrain vehicle accident in Mertens Avenue area of Green Ridge State Forest at 11:51 a.m. Saturday, according to the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services and Communications.

Oldtown Volunteer Fire Department and ambulance responded.

One burned in tank explosion

ELLERSLIE — One person was burned when a propane tank exploded at 7:35 p.m. Friday in the 10300 block of Mason-Dixon View, according to initial reports from the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services and Communications.

The burn victim was taken by Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Company ambulance to Cumberland Memorial Hospital. No further details were available Saturday. Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
