5/13 - Man arrested on several warrants

CUMBERLAND - A city man arrested Sunday in a domestic assault complaint also was served with several warrants that were already on file for his arrest.

Cumberland Police arrested Jon Pierre Lopez, 42, on a charge of second-degree assault after he allegedly assaulted a Woodside Avenue woman, who lost consciousness during the attack.

Lopez was arrested after officers investigated the 10:50 a.m. Sunday incident.

Police said the victim did not require medical treatment.

Following the arrest, a computer check showed Lopez was wanted in Allegany County on various warrants. One warrant stemmed from an alleged assault of the Woodside Avenue woman Dec. 2 and another related to Lopez allegedly passing a bad check at a Greene Street business Oct. 29. Lopez was also served with three bench warrants for failure to appear in court as scheduled.

On Monday, Lopez re-mained jailed at the Allegany County Detention Center on bond totaling $75,000.
