5/24 - Rain makes mess in Wiley Ford

Cumberland Times-News

WILEY FORD, W.Va. — Heavy rain that dumped several inches of rain on the Wiley Ford area sent water over streets and caused several flooded basements Saturday evening.

According to the Mineral County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, four volunteer fire departments were needed to remove nearly four feet of water from a basement on Spring Street.

Wiley Ford, Short Gap, Patterson Creek and Ridgeley fire departments all responded to that scene at 6:21 p.m. Units returned to their stations around 8 p.m.
