7/19 - Fire damage set at $50,000

A late night fire Thursday caused damage estimated at $50,000, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The blaze at 11610 Poplar Ave. began at 11:37 p.m. in the second-floor bedroom and took firefighters 25 minutes to bring under control.

Fire and smoke damage was confined to the second floor of the two-story home owned by Donna Struntz. Officials said $45,000 damage was done to the structure, with loss of contents placed at $5,000.

The occupants of the home were temporarily displaced by the fire.

The fire remains under investigation.
