10/17 - Tractor-trailors crash, close I-68

CUMBERLAND — Authorities were dealing with multiple accidents along Interstate 68 Saturday evening from Flinstone to Cumberland.

At approximately 6:12 p.m., fire units from LaVale and Cumberland, along with LaVale EMS and the Allegany County Bureau of Police, responded to an incident atop Haystack Mountain on eastbound I-68 where two tractor-trailors crashed near the 41 mile marker in the vicinity of Seton Drive.

Eastbound I-68 was closed as the Times-News went to press.

There was at least one transport to a local hospital due to injury, according to a dispatcher at the Allegany County Joint Communications Center.

State Highway Administration officials also responded to the scene.

A second accident occurred about 30 minutes later on westbound I-68 near Flintstone.

There, authorities said a single vehicle wrecked near the 56 mile marker. No injuries were reported.
