10/26 - Police probe attempted robbery

Cumberland Times-News

LAVALE — Police are seeking information about an attempted armed robbery that reportedly took place late Saturday night at the Western Sizzlin’ in LaVale.

Shortly after closing, the shift manager of the restaurant was approached by a suspect wearing a stocking over his head and carrying a black cylindrical object. The suspect leapt out from behind a power transformer and demanded money from the manager, who did not comply.

Police said a second suspect remained hidden behind the transformer. The manager was able to back away from the suspects, retreat into the restaurant and lock the door. It is unknown if the suspects fled on foot or if they had a vehicle.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Maryland State Police at (301) 729-2101 or Allegany & Mineral Counties Crime Solvers at (301) 722-4300. Anyone who contacts Crime Solvers may remain anonymous and individuals do not have to appear in court.
