Man arrested in city traffic stop - 01/08

CUMBERLAND — A Keyser, W.Va., man was jailed Monday after it was determined during a traffic stop that he was wanted on a fugitive warrant from Washington County.

Cumberland Police made a traffic stop on Industrial Boulevard when an officer observed a vehicle making an illegal turn at about 3 p.m.

The driver provided police with a false name and said he had no identification in his possession.

A scan of the vehicle by a drug-detecting dog led to the discovery of a baggie of marijuana in the man’s pants pocket, said police.

The man then identified himself to police as Tyrone Leonard Miner Jr., 35, of Keyser. His personal identification was found in his possession.

A check of police computer records showed Miner was driving with his license privileges suspended in addition to being wanted in Washington County.

Miner was charged with giving a ficticious name to police and possession of marijuana in addition to driving while suspended.

Following appearance before a district court commissioner, Miner was jailed on a detainer from Washington County, police said.
