Crash involved two pickups - 10/11

— ROMNEY, W.Va. — One driver was killed and another taken to Hampshire Memorial Hospital after two pickup trucks collided Monday night on U.S. Route 50 at the top of Cooper Mountain.

West Virginia State Police said the male driver of a Chevrolet pickup was pronounced dead at the scene following the 8:50 p.m. crash. Police have not disclosed the victim’s identity.

Police said Dale Stevens of Gore, Va., was driving a Dodge pickup that was involved in the crash. He was taken to Hampshire Memorial for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office and Medical Examiner Penny Hartman responded along with Capon Bridge and Augusta volunteer first-responders following alert by the Hampshire County 911 center.
