— OAKLAND — A 57-year-old Terra Alta, W.Va., man was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment on Friday following a collision of 2000 Harley-Davidson and a tractor-trailer on the George Washington Highway, the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office said.

David Moon was transported by helicopter, deputies said, after the motorcycle caught fire upon striking the tractor-trailer at the intersection of the U.S. Route 219 and Table Rock Road.

An investigation revealed that a 1998 Kenworth tractor-trailer operated by John M. DeWitt, 49, of Morgantown, W.Va., was conducting a left turn onto the roadway and entered the path of the Harley-Davidson driven by Moon.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Bayard and Gorman volunteer fire departments and Southern Garrett Rescue responded to the scene.
