CUMBERLAND — A Cumberland man was charged Saturday for alleg-edly robbing a cab driver who had picked him up at Queen City Drive location.
William Harry Thayer Jr., 46, was charged with robbery and theft of less than $1,000.
Police said the cab driver reported a man walked up to her cab and asked for a cigarette and $3. When the victim got out her money, the suspect reached into the cab, grabbed the money and fled the area on foot, police said.
The victim was able to provide officers with a detailed description of Thayer and also remembered him being in her cab in the past.
Thayer was later taken into custody on North Centre Street.
He remained in the Allegany County Detention Center Sunday on a $5,000 bond.
