Driver cited for DUI in West Side crash - 09/12

CUMBERLAND — A city man was arrested on drunken driving and other charges after his vehicle traveled out of control and struck a tree in the 800 block of Washington Street early Wednesday, according to the Cumberland Police Department.

Investigation of the 12:01 a.m. crash led to the arrest of Dustin Freas, 31, after he was given sobriety tests at the scene. The tests were administered after officers reportedly detected an odor of alcohol.

Freas was charged with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and failure to control speed to avoid collision before he was released to a family member, police said.

The Freas vehicle was disabled in the crash. A search of the vehicle by police led to discovery of suspected marijuana.
