— SOMERSET, Pa. — A 20-year-old Fairhope man remained jailed Saturday on $15,000 bond after he allegedly fired a rifle into the air during a domestic incident at a Smith Road residence in Fairhope.

Pennsylvania State Police arrested Joseph Chonko before he was placed in the Somerset County Jail on bond set by a district justice magistrate.

Police said an argument ensued at 4:30 p.m. Friday at a residence in the 1400 block of Smith Road before Chonko allegedly grabbed a 74-year-old female victim and then hurled a cast iron skillet at a 78-year-old male victim.

Police said the accused allegedly threatened to slit the female victim’s throat before he pointed a rifle at her and then fired a shot into the air.

Troopers arrested Chonko at the scene without further incident.

A jail official said Chonko remained jailed late Saturday afternoon in lieu of bond.
