— CUMBERLAND — A Bedford, Pa., man escaped injuries Wednesday when his cargo van was struck by a merging tractor-trailer and overturned on Interstate 68 westbound just past the downtown exit, according to the Allegany County 911 center.

Cumberland Police said that the van driven by Jared Scott Anderson, 24, was in the fast lane headed westbound when an all-white tractor-trailer moved into the same lane. The trailer, displaying a “caution” type symbol at the rear, struck the Ford van, causing the vehicle to strike the concrete median wall and overturn.

Police said the rig traveled about 100 yards farther, briefly stopped and then continued westbound on I-68.

Anderson declined medical attention, police said.
