— CUMBERLAND — Two city women were arrested Monday in connection with the theft of a wallet, credit cards and cash from a Somerville Avenue residence.

Cumberland Police arrested Jakela Watkins, 24, and Bianca Murphy, 22, both on charges of fraud identity information, theft under $1,000, use of a stolen credit card, stealing another person’s credit card and two counts of theft less than $100.

Following bond hearings, Watkins and Murphy were both jailed on $5,000 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center. Their bonds were both reduced to $3,000 in bail review hearings in district court Tuesday.

Police said the defendants allegedly stole the victim’s wallet that contained cash and credit cards Oct. 27 while visiting the residence.

The defendants allegedly used the credit cards to make purchases at a business on Oldtown Road. Surveillance cameras recorded the transactions, police said.

Warrants were obtained Oct. 30 and Watkins and Murphy were arrested Monday by Cumberland Police at unspecified locations.
