Garrett woman struck by vehicle - 10/14

— OAKLAND — A 71-year-old Deep Creek Lake woman was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital early Saturday afternoon after she was struck by a pickup truck while crossing Oak Street.

The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office said Patricia Franklin was injured in the 11:35 a.m. accident and was treated initially at Garrett Memorial Hospital before being transferred to the Morgantown facility.

Franklin was listed in critical condition late Saturday afternoon, according to a spokeswoman at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Police said Franklin was crossing Oak Street toward South First Street when she was struck by a vehicle operated by Olivia Athena Storey, 22, of Oakland. Storey was turning left to Oak Street from South First Street when the accident occurred.

The accident remains under investigation.

Southern Garrett Rescue Squad also responded to the incident.
