Two drivers injured in Oakland crash - 03/15

— OAKLAND — Two Garrett County residents were injured and taken to Garrett Memorial Hospital following an accident Wednesday in the 14000 block of Garrett Highway, according to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.

Carolyn B. Skylstad, 59, of Accident and Constance M. Valiton, 57, of Oakland suffered unspecified injuries in the 8:49 a.m. accident.

Police said Skylstad was driving a 2009 Ford Ranger northbound on Garrett Highway when she crossed the center line and struck an oncoming 2012 Chrysler 300 operated by Valiton.

Upon impact, the Valiton vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a 2006 GMC Envoy owned by Tammy Pannell of Oakland.

Police cited Skylstad with failing to reduce speed in dangerous highway conditions.

Northern and Southern Garrett rescue squads, Oakland Volunteer Fire Department and State Highway Administration personnel also responded.
