Heroin seized in I-68 stop at Rocky Gap

— CUMBERLAND — Maryland State Police seized a large quantity of suspected heroin in a traffic stop Tuesday on Interstate 68 at Rocky Gap State Park.

The stop was made at about 10:45 a.m. for alleged speeding.

The driver, Anthony W. Calloway, 19, of Wilmington, Del., was unable to produce any identification and gave false information to troopers, police said.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 130 baggies of suspected heroin, police said.

Calloway and a passenger, Desiree S. Saunders, 19, of Dunbar, W.Va., were both charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute narcotics and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Following bond hearings, Calloway was jailed at the Allegany County Detention Center on $45,000 bond and Saunders on bond of $5,000.
