CUMBERLAND — A 50-year-old city man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly assaulted a male victim as he was sleeping, Cumberland Police said.
The incident at a residence in the 400 block of Williams Street led to the arrest of William Foster Younger Jr. on charges of first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
Following a bond hearing, Younger was jailed at the Allegany County Detention Center on $7,500 bond, pending bail review in district court.
The victim declined medical treatment of minor scrapes and scratches.
The victim reportedly avoided being struck in the head by the accused, who was armed with a metal pipe, police reported.
