Cumberland man charged with intoxicated endangerment

CUMBERLAND — On Saturday officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 300 Arch Street in reference to a disturbance. While officers were speaking with the suspect he turned away from the officers and started to walk away. He was ordered by the officers several times to not walk away and once he returned officers observed him to be speaking in a highly unusual manner; as if he was concealing something inside his mouth. He was ordered opened his mouth and the officers observed an object protruding under his tongue and officers immediately attempted to contain Holmes and ordered him to spit out the object, but he refused. After a brief struggle, officers were able to secure clear plastic baggie that contained an amount of suspected marijuana.

 Dez'Mond Deon Holmes, 20 of Cumberland was placed under arrest but he was able to free himself from the officers and began to run from the area. Holmes was eventually taken into custody after a brief struggle with officers. Holmes was charged with possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, failure to obey and intoxicated endangerment

Holmes was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance and held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.
