Two injured in Route 40 crash at Eckhart - 06/28

CUMBERLAND — ECKHART — Two people were taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center following an accident Wednesday evening at U.S. Route 40 and Parkersburg Road in the Eckhart area, according to the Allegany County 911 center.

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office reported Samantha Bean and a 14-year-old girl in a Subaru station wagon were injured when their vehicle was struck from behind by a Toyota SUV operated by Donna Churchill, 50, of Frostburg.

Police said Churchill was eastbound on National Highway when she struck the rear of the Bean vehicle, which had slowed to a stop to make a left turn onto Parkersburg Road.

No information was available concerning the victims’ injuries.

First-responders including Clarysville and Frostburg volunteer fire units and Frostburg Area Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene at 6:17 p.m.
