OAKLAND — Nathaniel Jay Heishman, 24, Catons-ville, pleaded guilty in Garrett County Circuit Court to possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Related charges were dismissed upon his plea.
Judge Jim Sherbin sentenced Heishman to five years in the Maryland Division of Correction, then suspended four years of the sentence. Heishman will be on probation after his release from the Garrett County Detention Center. Fines and costs totaling $1,350 were assessed.
Heishman was stopped for a speeding violation along Interstate 68 by Maryland State Police. A drug-detection dog was used to scan the car and more than one pound of marijuana, as well as lesser quantities of other drugs, were found in the trunk packaged for distribution.
