City call prompts woman’s arrest - 05/10

CUMBERLAND — A city woman was jailed Wednesday after she was arrested during a disturbance and then was discovered to be wanted on a warrant stemming from a credit card theft case in February.

Cumberland Police responding to a 12:45 p.m. complaint in the 400 block of Baltimore Avenue arrested 27-year-old Samantha Baker on charges of disorderly conduct and second-degree assault.

Baker remained jailed Thursday on $25,000 bond, of which $10,000 was set for the credit card theft case and the remainder on the assault and disorderly conduct charges.

Police said the victim in the alleged assault did not require or seek medical treatment.

The outstanding warrant for Baker stemmed from an alleged Feb. 21 credit card theft and fraudulent use throughout the area. The warrant charged Baker with identity fraud, seven counts of unauthorized use of a credit card, theft scheme and credit card received unlawfully.
