Two injured in accident - 04/01

— CUMBERLAND — Two people were transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center on Sunday following a two-vehicle accident on state Route 36 at Vale Summit Road at approximately 3:20 p.m.

Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office said Peter Howard, 19, of Wexford, Pa., was driving south on Route 36 when he attempted to make a left turn onto Vale Summit Road and crossed into the path of a vehicle driven by Richele Fazenbaker, 19, of Westernport who was northbound on Route 36.

The injuries suffered by the two were described as non-life threatening. Both vehicles sustained front end damage and had to be towed from the scene. Route 36 was partially closed for 39 minutes,  deputies said.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Clarysville and Frostburg volunteer fire departments.
