CUMBERLAND — Twenty-six-year-old William N. Cox, Cumberland, was jailed on assault, resisting arrest and destruction of property charges when Cumberland Police served him with a warrant Sunday.
Cox was jailed on $5,000 bond after police served the warrant containing charges stemming from an alleged domestic assault on Friday.
Cox allegedly struck the arresting officer and continued to resist arrest before he was handcuffed and taken to the police station.
During arrest processing, Cox allegedly tried to harm himself with an ink pen. Cox was subdued by officers and taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for evaluation
He was discharged from the hospital and jailed on charges from the warrant and new charges stemming from Sunday’s incident.
