Driver charged in Bedford County incident - 04/20

BEDFORD, Pa. — A Hyndman man was arrested on various charges Thursday night after he allegedly failed to stop for police and then allowed his vehicle to hit a pursuing state police cruiser.

Trooper Matthew Bonn reported the incident began on state Route 96 in the area of Slate Lane at about 8:40 p.m., when Roger Lee Logsdon, 55, was clocked traveling 56 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Police said Logsdon attempted to elude police before he drove onto Slate Lane and into a residential yard. He got out of the vehicle after attempting to place it in park but instead placed it in reverse. Logsdon’s vehicle, a 1999 Plymouth Neon, then struck the front of the state police cruiser.

Bonn arrested Logsdon a short distance from the vehicle, charging him with driving under the influence, resisting arrest, driving DUI  with a suspended license, speeding, having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and various other traffic offenses.

Following appearance before a Bedford County magistrate, Logsdon was jailed in Bedford County on $25,000 bond and in connection with a parole violation, police said.
