Burglary call prompts arrests - 02/27

— CUMBERLAND — Two city men were arrested Tuesday afternoon after Cumberland Police re-sponded to a reported burglary in progress at a Goethe Street residence.

Mark Whorton, 30, and Rodricus Wilkes, 25, were each charged with fourth-degree burglary following the 3 p.m. incident.

Whorton was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than marijuana and Wilkes was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following bond hearings, both men were released on their personal recognizance, pending their next court appearance.

Neither man had permission to be inside the residence, police said.

Police said Whorton was found in possession of a baggie contained suspected cocaine at the time of the arrest. Wilkes was found in possession of a marijuana smoking pipe.
