Garrett men injured in rig-car collision - 04/10

OAKLAND — An Oakland man and a Grantsville man were injured early Tuesday when a car backed onto Maryland Highway and into the path of a tractor-trailer that overturned upon impact, ac-cording to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.

Harold W. Greene, 66, of Grantsville and Stephen J. Storch, 20, of Oakland suffered unknown injuries in the 3:55 a.m. crash that occurred just west of Sand Flat Road, police said.

Both men were taken to Garrett County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Greene was driving a 2013 International tri-axle milk truck eastbound on Maryland Highway when a 2004 Nissan SUV driven by Storch backed from a private driveway into the path of the rig, police said.

Charges are pending in the continuing investigation.

    Keyser Police responded to the Mineral County Technical Center on Monday at 10:46 a.m. for an incident in which a 19-year-old student was allegedly thrown into a wall by a 17-year-old student. The students, who are both mentally challenged, “were horsing around,” according to Karen Shoemaker, chief of police.
