— BARTON — An accidental fire involving a woodburner damaged a residence in the 19000 block of Dogwood Flat Lane late Monday, according to the Barton Volunteer Fire Department.

No injuries were reported.

An estimated 40 volunteer firefighters responded to the scene where much of the fire had been doused by the occupants prior to the arrival of firefighters.

The fire was confined to the area of the woodburner and had extended up an interior wall to the ceiling. Firefighters opened walls on the first floor to extinguish the fire. The second floor was checked for fire extension.

Firefighters were on the call for about an hour-and-a-half.

The Allegany County 911 center alerted Potomac, Good Will, Bloomington and Tri-Towns volunteer fire departments and Tri-Towns Rescue Squad following a 911 call reporting the incident at 10:42 p.m.
