CUMBERLAND — A domestic assault victim required medical treatment at the scene following an incident at a South Street residence Wednesday.
The victim sustained multiple injuries in the incident that led to the arrest of Michael A. Butler, 25, on charges of second-degree assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing and hindering, reckless endangerment and fraud/personal identification to avoid prosecution.
Following a bond hearing, Butler was jailed at the Allegany County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.
Police said the victim was crawling out the front door yelling for help when they arrived to investigate. The accused was located at the rear of the residence as he was reportedly attempting to leave the area.
The accused reportedly produced false identification and gave officers false personal information when they began their investigation.
The victim was treated at the scene by Cumberland Fire Department ambulance personnel.
