CUMBERLAND — A Westernport woman was identified Tuesday night in connection with an alleged hit-and-run incident that injured a bicyclist on Upper Georges Creek Road in the Shaft area earlier in the day, according to Maryland State Police.
Police said charges are pending against Rachel Haggerty in connection with the incident that injured Onas Hanekamp, 66, of Lonaconing. He was taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening following the 1:50 p.m. incident.
Police said a tip led troopers to John Baker Road where the suspect vehicle, a tan Pontiac Montana van bearing West Virginia registration, was located.
Haggerty, the owner of the vehicle, reportedly admitted to the collision and leaving the scene of the accident, police said.
