ROMNEY, W.Va. — David Michael Corey was found guilty by a Hampshire County jury last week in connection with the shooting death of his brother in January 2012, according to the Hampshire Review.
Corey, 49, pleaded guilty to shooting his 50-year-old Daniel Corey, who died of a gunshot wound while in his residence at 136 South High St. in Romney.
The shooting occurred on Jan. 8, 2012. The victim was found in his second-floor bedroom bleeding from a chest wound. He was found at 8:15 p.m. and was taken to Hampshire Memorial Hospital where he died a short time later.
After the verdict, the jury voted against a recommendation of mercy that would have made Corey eligible for parole after 15 years. However, Corey was sentenced to life in prison, according to the published report.
