FROSTBURG — John C. Raffelt, 22, Frostburg, charged with assaulting Frostburg Police Chief Royce Douty Friday afternoon, re-mained jailed Saturday in the Allegany County Detention Center on a bond of $5,000.
Douty reported that he confronted Raffelt near the Beer and Wine Warehouse on Bowery Street where Raffelt was alleged to have stolen a bottle of vodka.
Raffelt is said to have knocked Douty to the ground and fled, but was arrested a short time later by Cpl. Richard Grimm. Douty’s injuries were reportedly minor and he did not seek medical treatment.
