CUMBERLAND — A woman whose vehicle struck a CSX freight train at the Franklin Street railroad crossing early Sunday was not injured, according to Cumberland Police.
Nikita Courtney Hall told police that the brakes failed in her 2000 Dodge Caravan at 4:24 a.m. when she was traveling south on Franklin Street. Hall said that she did see the train moving on the tracks but was unable to stop her vehicle, police said.
An official with CSX told police that when the vehicle struck the train it set off a safety alarm and the train was stopped so it could be inspected. The train did not appear to be damaged during the collision, police said.
Hall’s vehicle was towed from the scene due to damage to the front end.
