CUMBERLAND — City firefighters responded to an 800-gallon fuel leak on CSX Drive in the railroad freight yards Thursday night.
The fuel reportedly leaked from a coupling of a temporary fuel line and traveled into a ditch, according to the fire department.
CSX hazardous materials personnel handled the incident and city firefighters were at the scene for one hour.
The incident marked the second CSX fuel spill in the city this month.
On Nov. 2, a locomotive leaked an estimated 1,000 gallons of fuel in the area of the Wills Creek bridge in the Narrows. The leak was tracked back to Ellerslie Road by city firefighters.
The incident was handled by CSX hazardous material personnel.
City firefighters were on the call for four hours following alert at 2:47 a.m., and the Maryland Department of the Environment was notified of the incident, according to a fire department official.
