ROMNEY, W.Va. — A structure fire before dawn Thursday on Fenwick Lane outside the Romney city limits drew numerous volunteer firefighters to the scene, according to the Hampshire County 911 Center.
Initial reports indicated there were no injuries in the incident that was reported to the emergency center at 5:55 a.m.
Augusta Volunteer Fire Department directed the fire operation. The fire scene was accessed from Starnes Road and units were on the call for nearly two hours.
Levels and Slanesville volunteer fire companies also responded while Lambert’s Ambulance Service and Burlington Volunteer Fire Department were placed on standby.
Thursday’s fire occurred less than 24 hours after volunteer firefighters from numerous companies responded to a structure fire on Bluffs Blue Beach Road in Springfield, according to the emergency center.
Springfield Volunteer Fire Department directed the fire operation with assistance of volunteer firefighters from Romney, Levels, Slanesville, Burlington, Patterson Creek and Fort Ashby. Springfield EMS volunteers also responded and Augusta Volunteer Fire Department stood by during the 1:49 p.m. incident.
