OAKLAND — Kevin James Greene, 49, Oakland, entered an Alford plea in Garrett County Circuit Court to fourth-degree burglary.
An Alford plea does not admit guilt, but acknowledges the state has sufficient evidence to prove its case.
Judge Jim Sherbin sentenced Greene to two years with all but 90 days suspended. Greene will be on probation upon his release.
He was charged in February 2013 after a Kitzmiller resident reported that he found Greene at a residence he was preparing to move into after the door had been unlocked. Greene was reportedly practicing as a locksmith but had not been licensed.
A jury had found Greene not guilty of first-degree burglary in February 2014 but the trial was rescheduled for the fourth-degree burglary charge after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict on that count.
