Two businesses disturbed in city - 05/04

— CUMBERLAND  — Cumberland Police officers charged two men with disorderly conduct for causing damages in two separate businesses Thursday.

At 6:03 a.m., officers responded to a Queen City Drive business in reference to a disturbance. Police observed two men involved in a disturbance. Officers spoke with store employees and learned that the suspect was disturbing other customers by yelling and ripping down decorations in the business. While the officers investigated the matter, the suspect continued to yell and cause a disturbance.

George Isidore Thomas Jr., 30, no fixed address, was charged with disorderly conduct, disturbance of peace and destruction of property. Thomas was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.

At about 6:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to a Greene Street business for a destruction of property complaint. Officers learned that the suspect was intoxicated and was causing damage inside the business. The business owner asked the suspect to leave. Officers escorted him outside but he refused to leave the property.  

Cody George Edward Damon, 22, of LaVale was charged with destruction of property, disorderly conduct, disturbance of peace and failure to obey a lawful order.

Damon was held on $2,500 bond.
