HAGERSTOWN — An inmate from the Maryland Correctional Training Center in Hagerstown remained at large Thursday morning after he walked off from a work site where he was assigned as part of a prerelease arrangement.
Maryland State Police troopers from the Hagerstown barrack responded to the Bulls and Bears Restaurant at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday after employees there notified the Maryland Division of Correction that Dion Alves, 41, left work around 8 p.m. Corrections officers also attempted to locate Alves before notifying state police.
Alves is a black man with brown eyes and is 5 feet, 11 inches tall weighing 190 pounds. He has a shaved head and light goatee and was wearing a plain white t-shirt and dark blue jeans at the time of his escape.
