CUMBERLAND — Cumberland Police filed multiple charges against Dontay James, 25, of Cumberland after serving a warrant Thursday in response to a breaking and entering complaint earlier in the day at a residence in the 300 block of Race Street.
James allegedly entered the residence forcibly, then struck the female victim with a lamp, punched her in the face and bit one of her fingers. He is also accused of taking her personal items before leaving the residence.
James was charged with three counts of burglary, theft less than $100, second-degree assault and destruction of property. He was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $35,000 bond. The victim did not require medical attention, police said.
