FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle head-on collision on state Route 28 north of Fort Ashby.
Upon impact, both vehicles traveled over an embankment, trapping two occupants in a Ford Escape. The driver was flown to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by Maryland State Police Trooper 5 helicopter. An occupant was taken to the Cumberland hospital by Short Gap Volunteer Fire Company ambulance.
The driver of a second vehicle, a Ford F-150 pickup, reportedly escaped injuries.
Fort Ashby, Short Gap and Valley Medical fire and EMS units responded to the scene. West Virginia State Police is investigating the 3:40 p.m. crash.
