LAVALE — Two people were transported to the hospital following an accident that occurred on Interstate 68 westbound just prior to the 40-mile marker Friday morning.
There was an entrapment and one person had to be pulled from a vehicle, according to the Allegany County Fire and EMS Facebook page. The accident led to the closure of the westbound roadway.
The first call came in at 6:43 a.m. and LaVale Rescue Squad transported one patient to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center and Cumberland Fire Department transported another patient to the hospital, according to the Allegany County 911 center. Also responding to the scene were the LaVale Volunteer Fire Department and Maryland State Police from the Cumberland barrack.
Allegany County Fire and EMS reported that the roadway was reopened around 9 a.m.
