CUMBERLAND — A Cumberland man is facing burglary and assault charges after police were called to a Greene Street residence Saturday for a reported breaking and entering.
Police observed two men in an altercation on the sidewalk in front of the residence upon their arrival. The victim tried to escort the suspect out of the residence but the suspect assaulted him, re-entered the residence without permission and stole a key to the residence, police said.
Charles Orville Butler, 41 of Cumberland was charged with fourth-degree burglary, second-degree as-sault, disorderly conduct and theft less than a $100.
Butler was then taken to district court and held on $15,000 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
