Motorist injured in Garrett crash - 03/19

CUMBERLAND — An 18-year-old Oakland man was injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday at an Oakland intersection, according to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.

Alexander W. Durst was taken to Garrett Memorial Hospital by the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad.

Police said Durst was driving a vehicle around 8 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle operated by Roger C. Kitzmiller, 57, of Oakland.

Kitzmiller reportedly failed to yield the right of way in the crash that occurred at the intersection of Sand Flat and Boy Scout roads, police said.

Kitzmiller apparently was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.

Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department responded along with Garrett County Roads Department personnel, according to the sheriff’s office.
