City man charged in domestic case - 09/11

CUMBERLAND — A city man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a female victim at two separate residences Monday afternoon, according to the Cumberland Police Department.

Glen Curtis Spencer, 25, was charged with first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment when he was served an arrest warrant stemming from the 2 p.m. complaint.

Following bail review in district court, Spencer remained jailed Tuesday on $5,000 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

Police said Spencer allegedly argued with the victim at a Columbia Avenue residence before he swung a knife and attempted to stab her. He then allegedly struck the victim in the face with his fist before she was able to break free and run to a friend’s residence on Mechanic Street.

Spencer arrived there and allegedly grabbed the victim by the arm and attempted to throw her down a set of stairs. The victim was able to break free and Spencer was arrested later in the day when he was located by police.

The victim did not require medical attention, police said.
