— CUMBERLAND — A Cumberland man was charged by city police with failure to obey a lawful order following a disturbance Friday in Roses parking lot on Queen City Drive.

Police said several people were yelling at each other in front of the shopping center and a female subject was lying on the sidewalk.

Charles Robert Bauman II, 42, reportedly started yelling profanities at officers and other people involved. Police told Bauman to be quiet and sit on the curb while officers were speaking with the female victim. Bauman began to argue with a male subject, said police, who warned him again.

After failing to comply, Bauman was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters for processing.

He was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial in district court.
