Suspicious activity in Grantsville - 08/28

— GRANTSVILLE — Maryland State Police are investigating suspicious activity that occurred in the Grantsville area and is possibly linked to incidents in Virginia and West Virginia.

On Aug. 20 at 12:55 p.m., a homeowner in the 500 block of Windy Acres Lane was approached by a woman who offered a free cleaning product if the resident agreed to complete a survey inside the home.

The woman was driving a light blue Chrysler minivan with West Virginia registration 7WT614 and was accompanied by another woman and two men. The homeowner refused to let them inside and told them to leave the property.

Police learned that people using different vehicles are traveling around Maryland and West Virginia attempting to sell supplies and offering to clean houses in an attempt to gain access into homes.

Residents who are approached are asked to obtain a vehicle description, tag numbers and description of suspects and notify police. The McHenry barrack can be contacted at 301-387-1101.
