CUMBERLAND — A city woman who allegedly stabbed someone she was arguing with and then stabbed herself was jailed following the Thursday night altercation in a residence on Arch Street, according to Cumberland Police.
Officers who responded to the 300 block of Arch Street at 9:41 p.m. found “a large amount of blood” throughout the residence. Shannon Hewlin, 30, used a knife to stab the person she was fighting with multiple times before stabbing herself, police said. Hewlin and the victim were taken to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by Cumberland Fire Department ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Hewlin was released from the hospital and charged with two counts of assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. She was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
