ROMNEY, W.Va. — A 10-month investigation by the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office and allied police agencies has resulted in 18 felony arrests.
Hampshire County Sheriff John P. Alkire said Wednesday that five search warrants were executed in Romney, Augusta and the Slanesville areas.
Narcotics, cash and drug paraphernalia were seized in the drug raids as evidence, police said.
The warrants were reportedly executed by the sheriff’s office, West Virginia State Police and Romney City Police.
All of the defendants were jailed at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta to await arraignment in Hampshire County Magistrate’s Court.
Seventeen of the arrests were the result of indictments on felony drug charges returned by the Hampshire County grand jury.
