BURLINGTON, W.Va. — West Virginia Natural Resources Police officers received a report of a lost hunter late Monday afternoon at Larenim, which is county property located off Patterson Creek Road in Mineral County.
William Bradshaw Sr., 66, of Ridgeley entered the woods at noon and failed to meet his son at their vehicle at 3 p.m., according to an NRP spokesman.
A search conducted by the Burlington and New Creek volunteer fire departments, Mineral County Sheriff’s Department, Maryland State Police medevac helicopter and NRP was stopped at 4 a.m. Tuesday and resumed three hours later.
A short time after the search resumed, Bradshaw appeared at the command post, uninjured.
Bradshaw had shot at a deer and followed it into unfamiliar territory, resulting in him being lost for the night, according to the agency official.
