Police serve three warrants - 12/09

CUMBERLAND — Cumberland Police served three Cumberland residents with arrest warrants on Friday relating to assault investigations.

• Jude Smith, 26, was charged with second-degree assault. The charge stems from an assault that occurred on Monday at a private residence on Linden Street, police said. Smith allegedly punched the victim in the nose and face. The victim was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment. Smith was being held on a $40,000 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

• Jessica Miller, 28, was charged with disorderly house. Within the past several months, Smith allegedly made numerous calls of service to police and the Cumberland Fire Department, including eight assault investigations, two disturbances and six medical calls for service as a result of the disorderly actions that have taken place at her residence, police said. Miller was being held on a $2,500 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

• Harold Nicol, 32, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault. The charges stem from an assault that allegedly occurred on Arch Street on Monday and Wednesday. Nicol is being held on a $10,000 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
